Design
A process based on understanding the user's perspective and encouraging development with a specific purpose, emphasizing both utility and aesthetic values.
Elements of Design
The foundational components used to create a design, including Point, Line, Shape, Form, Color, and Texture.
Point
The first step in design, which identifies a location in space and has no dimensionality; used to create areas, centers, and attention.
Line
A boundary that limits spaces, objects, and solids; a visual path that enables eye movement, spanning a distance between two points.
Shape
The linear surface area of an object, which can be either geometric or organic.
Form
A three-dimensional shape that has length, width, and depth.
Color
The hues with their various values and intensities.
Texture
The surface qualities that can be perceived by touch.
Principles of Design
The fundamental guidelines for creating effective designs, encompassing Simplicity, Repetition, Unity, Contrast, Proportion, Emphasis, Rhythm, and Balance.
Simplicity
A principle of design emphasizing the importance of keeping a design clear and uncluttered.
Unity
A principle of design that ensures all elements work together harmoniously.
Proportion
The relationship of sizes between different elements in a design.
Emphasis
A principle of design that draws attention to specific elements to create a focal point.
Rhythm
A principle of design that creates a sense of movement and flow through repetition and variation.
Balance
A principle of design that ensures visual stability by distributing elements evenly.
Rule of Thirds
A compositional guideline that suggests dividing an image into thirds, both horizontally and vertically, to position important elements.
Golden Ratio
A mathematical ratio approximately equal to 1.618, used to create aesthetically pleasing compositions.
Fibonacci Sequence
A series of numbers where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones, often associated with growth patterns in nature.
